    Do you want to work with a dynamic, collaborative, highly motivated and influential team to create state of the art technology for mobile systems?

    We are seeking a forward-thinking, can-do minded, software engineer to work in our Architecture and Technology Group. This group defines the Arm Architecture and works with the best architects and software engineers across the industry to ensure Arm remains a winning architecture.

    JOB PURPOSE

    A key activity in research and architecture development is creating prototypes and proofs of concept. These enable us to understand how to deploy new technology in the real world.

    In this role, you will develop prototypes for power-performance policy solutions implemented in system firmware.

    You will be working with teams across Arm towards delivering end-to-end solutions.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    WORKING IN THE ARCHITECTURE AND TECHNOLOGY GROUP, YOU WILL:

    -  Build prototype features in system firmware to support ground-breaking power and performance management mechanisms in the latest generations of Arm SoCs.

    -  Build prototypes in firmware that improve specific aspects of system management.

    -  Provide design specification, testing and validation support.

    -  Work with productization teams to ensure successful handover of the prototype design and implementation.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    You should have knowledge and skills in several of the following areas:

    -  Embedded firmware development.

    -  Operating system fundamentals and Linux kernel drivers.

    -  SoC and OS mechanisms for power-performance management.

    -  Strong programming experience in C and basic understanding of arm/x86 assembly.

    -  Good grounding in computer architecture.

    YOU SHOULD:

    -  Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills at technical, and senior management levels.

    -  Be able to Navigate and make high-level design trade-offs and articulate the rationale for those choices.

    -  Have a can-do attitude, be flexible and ready to accept new challenges.

    -  Have a university degree (or equivalent), in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

    It would be useful if you have some familiarity with any of the below:

    -  OS thermal management mechanisms.

    -  Debuggers and other tools and techniques to analyse how the OS and applications utilize the underlying hardware.

    -  Standard firmware interfaces such as UEFI, ACPI or device tree.

    -  Git, Gerrit.
