Arm’s Machine Learning Research Lab delivers underlying ML technology that enables current and emerging applications across the full ML landscape, from data centres to client devices to IoT. Our research feeds into product roadmaps to deliver industry-leading hardware and software solutions to Arm’s partners.
The Lab focusses on providing top model accuracy while optimizing for energy consumption. This includes defining the architecture and training our own custom machine learning models, incorporating Bayesian/probabilistic methods for uncertainty estimates, optimizing and creating tools to optimize existing state-of-the-art models, exploring techniques for compressing models, transforming data for efficient computation, enabling inference at the edge, and developing techniques for distributed training and inference. We deliver models, algorithms for compression, library optimization based on computational analysis, network architecture search (NAS) tools, ideas for instruction set architecture (ISA) and accelerator architecture.
The research also investigates use cases, such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), as a way to determine which aspects of fundamental ML technology are or will be important to next generation applications.
Our worldwide team of researchers possess a broad range of ML skills but also a particular interest in researching and developing ML techniques that can roll out into real products and applications.
The role encompasses -
•Identifying and investigating key ML technologies and algorithms, and assessing how they’ll impact our products and partners
•Collaborating with our product teams to develop new IP – architecture, hardware, and software
•Reporting results to key partners and publishing research within the overall ML ecosystem
•Developing and optimizing ML algorithms for energy-constrained devices
•Prototyping hardware and software solutions
•Collaborating with university and industry research partners
