    Job Description

    Arm’s Machine Learning Research Lab delivers underlying ML technology that enables current and emerging applications across the full ML landscape, from data centres to client devices to IoT. Our research feeds into product roadmaps to deliver industry-leading hardware and software solutions to Arm’s partners.

    The Lab seeks an experienced Researcher/Engineer to join the Intelligent Systems team working in the multi-disciplinary area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Perception.  Research includes end-to-end projects encompassing aspects of Computer Vision, scene semantics, novel Neural Networks design, and sensory data fusion, with a view to energy-efficient System Intelligence. 

    Our worldwide team of researchers possess a broad range of ML skills but also a particular interest in researching and developing ML techniques that can roll out into real products and applications.

    The role encompasses 

    • Prototyping software and hardware as proof-of-concept, end-to-end solutions

    • Identifying and investigating key ML technologies and algorithms, and assessing how they’ll impact our products and partners

    • Collaborating with our product teams to develop new IP – architecture, hardware, and software

    • Reporting results to key partners and publishing research within the overall ML ecosystem

    • Developing and optimizing ML algorithms for energy-constrained devices

    • Collaborating with university and industry research partners

    If you have an established track record in these areas and have exceptional skills to develop creative research agendas and execute projects successfully, you could be an extraordinary fit to join our team.

    With AI being a subject that cross-cuts through multiple tech areas, our ideal candidate has expertise in ML (e.g. Supervised/Unsupervised Learning, LSTMs/RNNs, GANs, Bayesian Inference), combined with strong knowledge and experience in areas such as Computer Vision (e.g. OpticalFlow, SLAM), Computational Linguistics (e.g. NLP, ASR), Audio (e.g. Speech to Text), programming Inertial Motion Units (IMUs), and the ability to work across such technological boundaries.

    The candidate should be someone that has a mixture of academic & industrial background. With skills to design and prototype their ideas; understand and analyse complex systems and technologies; be self-reliant and able to clearly communicate their ideas to different audiences; seamlessly collaborate, motivate and influence colleagues and external partners; and have expertise in one of the areas described below.

    Education & Qualifications

    • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Applied Mathematics / Physics / or related

     

    Job Requirements

    Essential Skills & Experience:

    • Several years of industrial / research experience

    • Hands-on experience on Machine Learning; Neural Networks design, training and deployment

    • Solid understanding of:

      • Supervised & Unsupervised Learning
      • LSTMs and RNNs
    • Very comfortable with any of: Python, Ruby
    • Good experience with any of: PyTorch, Caffe, TensorFlow
    • Experience with any procedural programming language (e.g. C, C++, Rust)

    • Strong shell scripting skills

    • Comfortable with using git

    Desirable Skills & Experience

    • Generative Adversarial Neural Networks

    • Bayesian / Probabilistic Inference

    • SIMD and Parallel programming & execution

    • NNs Quantization

    • Good understanding of software stacks, system and computer architecture

    • Software and System performance analysis

    Extra points for experience in, or understanding of:

    • SIMD and Parallel programming & execution

    • Experience with programming for GPGPUs

    • Matlab/Scilab
