    Job Description

    The team

    There is a summer internship within the Systems Development team in Arm's Cambridge site. The team is responsible of developing and validating System-on-Chip designs which bring together all the latest Arm IP such as CPUs, GPUs, ML Processors, video and display controllers and memory system components. Ensuring that all these products work effectively with each other and with software is the key to enabling our partners to produce best-in-class systems.

    The role

    This is an internship focusing on hardware development. The role is to work alongside system architects, to build and validate future Arm-based SOC designs.

    • Being part of a small and talented team, giving you the opportunity to innovate and make a meaningful contribution
    • Gaining insights and experiences of an industry-level project and making fresh knowledge from your degree course into industrial use
    • Developing solutions for systems where many ideas are at embryo stage of development in the industry
    • Employing leading-edge design and verification technologies to produce low-power, high-performance products
    • Enabling other colleagues and our partners by providing system-level insights for the design of Arm’s CPU, Media, ML and System IP
    • Developing skills in hardware design and integration, functional verification, test automation, system design

    Job Requirements

    Are you a good fit for Arm?

    You will be on track to receive, or have achieved a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related subject.

    Essential Skills

    • Understanding of computer and system architecture concepts.
    • Knowledge of digital circuits.
    • Enthusiastic and passionate about all aspects of system design engineering both within, and outside, a degree course.
    • Good communication and team-working skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Experience in some programming languages (for example, C/C++, Python).

    Desirable Skills

    • Competency in Verilog or VHDL.
    • Familiarity with the Arm AMBA specifications or other bus protocols.
    • Knowledge of the Arm architecture.
    • Knowledge of design techniques for low power
    • Exposure or working knowledge synthesis/floorplanning/power planning and place and route tools and techniques
    • Use of a UNIX environment and shell programming/scripting in e.g. Tcl, Perl, Python etc.
