    Job Description

    Arm is seeking a highly motivated and creative Senior Software Engineer in Test to join our Cambridge-based development team to work on state-of-the-art debug tools.

    What will I be doing?

    You will join the Development Solutions Group (DSG) developing software for Arm Development Studio; a software tool suite that helps our partners’ engineers build innovative and energy efficient Arm powered products.

    As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work in our Agile team on the development and testing of our Java and C++ based debug tools.

    • Embedded within our development team you will contribute to requirement capture and design reviews to ensure testability is built in
    • Develop automated tests and test infrastructure
    • Develop tests at all levels, from unit tests through to integration and end-to-end functional tests
    • Establish product expertise, perform hands-on exploratory and usability testing
    • Monitor test coverage levels and advise on ways to improve them
    • Develop people in the team, developers and testers alike

    Essential skills and experience that we look for in a successful Software Engineer in Test include:

    • Java and/or C++ coding experience
    • Experience of working in an Agile development environment
    • Experience in building great test frameworks, infrastructure and automated test environments
    • Knowledge of common software development, continuous integration and test processes
    • Experience of using CI/CD tools
    • A high level of pro-activity and initiative

    Desirable but not essential skills:

    This position is situated in the company’s headquarters in Cambridge.

    You will be expected to occasionally travel to other Arm offices, events and meet with our customers and partners.

    Essential Skills & Experience:


    • Authoritative knowledge of the Java language and the Java SE API
    • Working knowledge of C and C++
    • Sound understanding of Computer Architecture and Operating System theory


    Desirable Skills:


    • Experience with building, testing and releasing software products (build tools such as ant, gradle or cmake, continuous integration systems, etc)
    • Building Eclipse-based products
