    Job Description

    ARM’s Image Signal Processor group provides image processing technology for a range of markets and use cases, including surveillance cameras, drones and automobiles. The SoCs at the heart of these devices use our “intellectual property” in the form of software and hardware designs, which is the culmination of man-decades of research and experimentation in the field of imaging. 

    This position works within an exceptional team of software engineers to deliver software implementations of our world leading image and video processing algorithms. The successful candidate will work on an exciting variety of cutting-edge projects, including algorithms and driver development for simultaneous localization and mapping engine (SLAM) and image signal processor (ISP) solutions. Using SLAM, you will be creating algorithms to facilitate a range of use cases including; real-time 3D reconstruction, image quality and stabilization, video processing pipelines covering everything from camera sensor to the final 3D reconstruction.

    What will I be accountable for?
    • To be a core member of our SLAM algorithms development team alongside our research and integration engineers
    • Develop novel, accurate computer vision algorithms and advanced systems with a focus on real-time object tracking, SLAM, sensor fusion, visual odometry, camera calibration and 3D reconstruction
    • Develop, analyse and improve efficiency, scalability and stability of various SLAM solutions
    • Conceive proof-of-concept prototypes that establish overall system performance
    • Develop high-quality software designs that allows for both high-performance and maintainable software
    • Collaborating with the wider engineering team to build an infrastructure required for in internal development
    • Work with image quality experts to determine requirements for processing
    • Daily usage of software practices that produce maintainable code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style conformity, and code review

     

    Job Requirements

    What skills and qualifications do I need?

    Essential:

    • Strong computer science foundations, with focus on vision and/or robotics
    • Hands-on experience developing C.V. SLAM algorithms for robotics, vision or AR applications (Vision-based, stereo, multi-view geometry, fast image retrieval, 3D reconstruction, SFM, 3D computer vision)
    • Familiar with multiple SLAM approaches, including keyframe BA and probabilistic filtering
    • Experience investigating, designing, prototyping, and delivering new and innovative system solutions
    • Understanding of image processing algorithms
    • Solid applied math skills in linear algebra, 2D/3D geometry, and linear & non-linear optimization
    • Development skills (C/C++, GPU programming, Linux, OpenCV, Matlab, Python)
    • Practical, organized and analytical approach to work
    • Excellent team and communication skills
     Desirable:
    • Strong software development skills in Linux/Android environments
    • Real-time software experience
    • Experience of bringing up and using FPGA based systems
    • Understanding of ISP algorithms
    • Entrepreneurial drive and enthusiasm
    • Experience with embedded software developmen

     Education:

    • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in a related subject such as Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Master’s preferred.
    • Strong background in advanced geometric computer vision or SLAM
