    Job Description

    Arm’s technology is inside billions of devices; our architecture, software and tools are the foundation that many developers around the world use to build the best mobile products and applications. You have the opportunity to join a team of engineers helping Arm maintain a developer ecosystem for its client computing line of business.

    About the role

    This role is within the Client Developer Ecosystems team, responsible for delivering the best developer experience on Arm based smartphones, laptops and 2-in-1 devices.

    We are looking for a software engineer willing to explore the full client device software and get under the hood of tools used by app developers.

    During this internship, you will take part in investigations into which areas of the software stack and related analysis tools affect the developer experience and the performance of applications in current Arm-based devices.

    You will collaborate with, and influence, internal engineering teams, and ecosystem partners to ensure that right developer tools, libraries, SDKs and APIs are built for the future.

    Job Requirements

     What will I be accountable for?

    • Contribute to investigations into real computing applications and build an understanding of the tools, technologies and use cases involved
    • Understanding of optimization choices at platform level and their impact in overall performance
    • Identification of improvements across the developer environment – tools, libraries, SDKs, APIs – that would impact the system performance and developer experience
    • Software development, testing and debugging on consumer devices
    • Authoring of technical reports for a range of audiences

     

        

    What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

    • Knowledge of development and debugging on mobile platforms such as Android
    • Scripting experience with Shell and/or Python
    • Excellent written and spoken English communication, capable of writing coherent reports, influencing and building consensus
    • Willingness to be flexible and accept new challenges

    Desirable skills

    • Knowledge of one or more CPU architectures
    • Knowledge of Linux, Android or Windows internals
