As the primary function, the microfabrication technologist position will assist in the development of new micro/nano-electronics fabrication processes and carry out the day to day production of detectors in a cleanroom facility. This position will be responsible for carrying out fabrication processes (e.g. photolithography, thin film depositions, reactive ion etching, etc.) under the supervision of HEP scientists. In collaboration with HEP scientists, this position will develop and optimize new processes using problem solving and analytical skills such as design of experiment. This position will also be responsible for the production of deployment ready detectors once suitable processes have been established. This position will take ownership of HEP processing equipment, working closely with equipment vendors and cleanroom staff to ensure reliable performance and uptime of equipment.
The successful candidate will have keen attention to detail and a willingness to repeat steps until a process is done correctly. The candidate will have knowledge in relevant scientific fields (e.g. physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering) and micro/nano-electronics fabrication processes. The candidate will have good written and verbal communication and record keeping skills, and will be able to work independently while also collaborating with an extended team.Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical engineering, or related field.
