Position Description:
AMETEK SCP manufacture niche electronic instruments for the defence and aerospace industry based out of our site in the North West of England. In order to maintain the business AMETEK has an exciting career opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual to manage the production facility whilst maintaining and developing client relationships. A broad and varied role meaning no two days will be the same, whilst allowing a degree of autonomy with the management of the business.

Role Purpose

As an experienced Operations Plant Manager you will report into the US based Business Director for AMETEK SCP and be responsible for the daily activities of managing a manufacturing site. With experience of working across a broad range of production activities from an electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering standpoint you will be someone who thrives on ensuring that the satisfaction of their customers is of the upmost priority.

Responsibilities:

Working within the role as Plant Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include the following but may not be limited to:-

Plan material and manufacturing requirements for UK based customers.

Coordinate material purchases, logistics, manufacturing, and shipment of products, fully compliant to all requirements and on-time within a continuous improvement environment.

Manage key UK customer relationships.

Serve as AMETEK SCP expert in UK customer quality and compliance requirements.

Gain technical expertise in the AMETEK SCP products and serve as local expert for UK customers and local contractors for assembly and test.  

Audit UK suppliers and partners as needed.  Solve UK supplier issues as needed.  

Manage production and spares inventory for the AMETEK Barrow site to ensure investment level with expected turns and inventory accuracy via MRP/ERP and ensure efficient spend of shop and office supplies.  

Gain and maintain ISO 9001 certification for the Barrow site

Hire, train and manage additional staff members for AMETEK Barrow as approved.  

Contribute to annual and strategic planning.  Provide monthly forecasts of revenue and costs and track actual performance.  Determine means to correct and/or improve.  

Generate annual budget and track and report performance once approved.  

Maintain and improve the AMETEK Barrow facility and ensure adherence to safety and environmental compliance regulations.  Ensure all required equipment remains functional and company assets are protected.  Ensure all required insurance programs are in place and supported.  

Report Key Performance Indicators monthly or as directed by AMETEK SCP Business Director.  

Coordinate with AMETEK Finance staff as required for reporting.

Key Skills

Key skills will include:

Qualified to degree level in relevant discipline

Ideal candidates will have high motivation and determination to achieve results.

There will be an element of international travel involved with this role and the ideal candidate will need to be comfortable with this requirement.

Demonstrable leadership experience

Experience within a manufacturing background

Familiarity with ERP/MRP Systems

Good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages

This role is required to gain UK Security clearance due to the type customers that AMETEK SCP deal with, you therefore must be a British Citizen in order to be eligible to apply.
