We are currently seeking a Product Engineer for our Service department who will be responsible for activities directly supporting Gatan existing and New Products in development. This individual will work closely with the Research, Development & Engineering groups along with Technical Support. This position is be based out of our Pleasanton, CA office.
The primary function of this role will be:
•Supporting new product development and design through verification and validation activities
•Provide design control support for new product development and engineering efforts
•Support service activities within the Agile PLM system
•Support maintenance and the movement of existing products within the TEM/SEM microscope labs
•Responsible for creation of engineering/service documentation as necessary
•Lead the service effort in End of Life (EOL) process
•Excellent troubleshooting skills. Must be able to diagnose complex system problems and help customers and engineers diagnose complex system problems via telephone, e-mail, remote login or through direct on-site instruction.
•Demonstrated understanding of analog and digital electronics, optics, chemistry, pneumatics, and vacuum systems.
•Hands-on skills for assembly, installation, disassembly of instruments
•Able to analyze complex problems and make sound judgments based on competing priorities.
•Able to read and interpret schematics and other technical documentation.
•Knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Able to create and deliver technical presentations to individuals or groups.
•Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and common software applications
•Proven ability to work successfully as an individual contributor or as part of a team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• BS in technical/scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 3+ years direct experience building, maintaining, installing, and/or repairing complex electromechanical systems.
