We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Dress Designer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Contribute to design research, design and development of Dresses.

  • Design original garments with consideration for price parameters

  • Research woven fabrics relevant to the line in terms of look and price

  • Perform the tasks necessary to execute the design process.

  • Contribute ideas based on the concept and look of the line each season

  • Design, sketch and create PLM body sheets and trim sheets for every style to include all technical information clearly detailed so the factories can make prototypes. Communicate with the factories to make sure all information is clearly understood and that the prototypes will be made by the deadline.

  • Create, maintain and distribute charts with Adobe Illustrator sketches to detail each style with all information regarding style and range number, colors for each style.

  • Participate and contribute in Lock In meetings when the proto types are reviewed, edited and adopted.

  • Collaborate with design team to select appropriate trim for each style and make sure it has been ordered for salesmen samples.

  • Follow weekly/ monthly sales reports to determine successful category to be exploited and evolved

  • Determine appropriate styling and price structure based on knowledge of customer profile

  • Collaborate with design team to establish appropriate design ,look, and fabrications for each season

  • Interpret trends to create original designs/ be aware of market conditions and trends

  • Follow weekly/ monthly sales reports to determine successful category to be exploited and evolved

  • Design garments with the required aesthetic, quality, material and fit within price parameters

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Five to seven years of professional experience in Dresses 

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding garment construction.

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding trim sourcing , development and manufacturing

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Knowledge of PLM a plus or the ability to learn new computer systems

  • Must be able to sketch by hand

  • Must have a good sense of color

  • Excellent follow up skills and ability to meet deadlines
