Position Expectations

Position Summary 

The Sustainability and ESG team is responsible for creating and executing JetBlue’s strategy and programs related to our environmental impact and risk, as well as large societal and environmental trends that could affect our core business. 

The Analyst of Sustainability and ESG will focus on researching and executing opportunities to save both operational cost and reduce environmental impact, as well as prepare for and improve our ESG-standing in the financial community. The Analyst is responsible for supporting Sustainability programs and other departments within JetBlue needing support with natural resource conservation, and or disposal and recycling. The Analyst is also responsible for ESG related scores, writing, reporting, questioners, data management, and data strategy. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Support JetBlue’s onboard recycling program by maintaining on-ground recycling systems throughout JetBlue’s network, managing data collection on the recycling system, and supporting all communications related to the recycling system 

  • Create programs that reduce waste from our supply chain and procurement processes, specifically for onboard products, including food, beverages, pillows, blankets, uniforms etc. 

  • Support the research and execution of cost and resource saving ideas that are suggested by Crewmembers through the Values Committee and relevant Finance teams. 

  • Support requests from the corporate sales team to write, research, and track emissions related to corporate sales accounts 

  • Write extensively for the JetBlue’s annual responsibility, sustainability internal and external communications, and Corporate Social Responsibility team’s environmental programs. 

  • Execute ESG trend analysis and support ESG investor related research. 

  • Support and or lead ESG reporting and filing.  

  • Research ESG related policies and best practices (e.g. human rights). 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

MinimumExperience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field 

  • One (1) year of related experience in sustainability and or aviation 

  • Extremely strong writing and copy-editing skills in English 

  • Extremely strong research ability 

  • Extremely detail oriented for editing and organizational purposes 

  • Analytical or Quantitative education/experience or aptitude 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access 

  • Deep understanding and knowledge of scientific findings on climate change 

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test 

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree in sustainability 

  • Previous Airline Experience 

  • Proficiency in database tools 

Crewmember Expectations:  

  • Regular attendance and punctuality  

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice 

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance 

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft 

  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun  

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards 

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
