BSA provides 24 hour paramedic care through our ambulance service, which responds to emergencies in Canyon and 825 square miles of Randall County. BSA EMS staffs two stations 24/7/365, one in northern Randall County and one in Canyon.
The Paramedic is responsible for responding to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and transports the patient to a medical facility. Determine the nature & extent of the patient's condition. Provides appropriate emergency care & transports patient when necessary. Assess injuries and renders emergency medical care to injured or ill individuals. Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facility.
Current TX Paramedic license is required
National Registry certification is preferred
Current ACLS, PHTLS, PALS or PEPP is required within 80 days of employment
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR is required
Valid minimum Class C Texas Driver License with restriction "A" permissible
Must be 21 years of age or older with excellent driving record
Completion of the following Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.A is required within 80 days of employment
Previous field experience is strongly preferred
Demonstrates competency handling emergencies utilizing all BLS equipment and skills in accordance with all local protocols and behavioral objectives in the US Department of Transportation EMT-Basic curriculum.
Use good judgment and remain calm in high stress situations including situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.
Calculate weight and volume ratios and read small print, both under life-threatening time constraints.
Accurately discern street sign and address numbers and able to read maps
Must have good critical thinking skills and perform duties under intermittent or continuous physiological duress
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills required
