BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system in Amarillo, Texas providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service.
The BSA Surgery department consists of 16-multi-purpose suites and 2-cystoscopy suites operated on a 24-hr basis with approximately 50-surgeons. The most frequent surgeries are: General Surgery, Orthopedic, Vascular, Urology, Cardiothoracic, Neurosurgery, ENT, Gynecology, Plastics, Robotics and Bariatric; 12,700 surgeries annually.
Accountable to assist the RN and surgeon in preparing for surgical procedures, assist in surgical procedures, and prepare for the next case. The scrub technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Current CST certification from NBSTSA
CPR certified from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Previous work experience as a surgical tech
Ability to rapidly evaluate and prioritize request of the healthcare team and physicians
Self motivated with a positive attitude; excellent teamwork
Ability to multi-task constantly and tolerate interruptions
Good organizational and follow-through skills
Exhibit good customer service skills; friendly
Good communication skills; able to communicate with patients, families, physicians and multiple healthcare team members
