Position Description:

Panhandle Surgical Hospital is partnered with BSA Health System to provide two surgical facilities which include Quail Creek Surgical Hospital in Amarillo. Each hospital combines the latest technology with a warm and caring staff specializing in surgical services. Physicians Surgical Hospital is unique because it is owned and operated by physicians in an affiliation with BSA Health System.

Job Summary:
Assist the RN and surgeon in preparing for surgical procedures, assist in surgical procedures, and prepare for the next case. The scrub technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Position Requirements:
Current CST certification from NBSTSA
CPR certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Previous work experience as a surgical tech preferred
Able to scrub in Ortho, Neuro, GYN, General, Podiatry, ENT
Ability to rapidly evaluate and prioritize requests for the healthcare team and physicians
Self-motivated with a positive attitude, excellent teamwork
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment
Must exhibit great interpersonal and customer service skills
Good organizational and follow through skills
Must be able to multi-task and tolerate interruptions
Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, family physicians, and all members of the healthcare team
