The Communications Analyst assists higher-level technical staff in installing, testing, maintaining, enhancing, & configuring communication system components. Works under close technical supervision on tasks which are limited in scope. Such tasks could include: assisting higher-level analysts in developing and testing simple modifications or enhancements to communications systems. Incumbent displays an interest in the structure of communications software at detailed levels and demonstrates the ability to assimilate basic technical material independently to develop the skills necessary for supporting communication hardware & software, such as system utilities and network operating systems, workstations, and related components.
DESIRED: Demonstrated expertise in the Microsoft Windows and/or Sun Solaris UNIX operating system. Solid understanding of TCP/IP and network topologies; familiarity with Windows Active Directory and Tivoli Storage Manager Backup and Recovery Software.
REQUIRED: U.S. Citizenship. The following dimension criteria will be used: analysis; oral/written communication skills; planning/organizing/controlling; tolerance for stress; initiative; organizational sensitivity and customer service orientation. Expected to work unusual hours, including weekends.
