Job Description
Manage all operations and functions of an underground mining facility including mine planning, drilling and blasting, processing and plant maintenance; manage direct reports and labor relationships as well as community relations. Ensure safe operation of plant and adherence to highest environmental standards.

Required Skills
Education & Experience
- College Degree preferred; Mining or Civil Engineering degree preferred
- At least 5 years experience managing an aggregate (either surface or underground) processing facility of at least 1M+ tons/yr.  Must have track record of successful leadership in all facets of plant operations:  safety, health and environmental management, mine planning and development, meeting production and quality goals, quarry mobile fleet management, public relations, and project and financial management. Must have excellent leadership and performance management skills; employee training experience preferred.
- Must have managed a workforce of at least 15 employees.
- Experience in the management of union employees highly desirable
        
Mental Requirements & Skills
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact with various departments
- PC skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Must represent VMC in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Use telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential
- Travel required within in the Midwest Division and travel to other divisions for up to 1 week.
- Must have the ability to drive an automobile and possess a valid driver’s license; there may be a periodic need to travel by airline.
