Position Responsibilities
As a director of solution marketing for SunGard’s Wealth Management businesses, you will be charged with helping to define and communicate the global vision and positioning for multiple benefit administration and retirement solutions that serve a variety of customer ranging from small and mid-sized plan administrators to some of the world’s largest recordkeepers, insurance firms, banks and corporations. This extends from gaining an in-depth understanding of these user segments to identifying emerging trends and determining how SunGard can best position itself to help its clients succeed in a rapidly changing market environment. This position will work closely with the strategy, product management and sales teams to identify ways to adapt existing products to better meet the evolving needs of our customers, evaluate proposed product ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. The director of solution marketing should possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. Candidates must also enjoy spending time in the market to understand our clients’ problems, and be able to clearly communicate how SunGard’s innovative solutions can address these needs.
• Work with the strategy team, product management and SunGard partners to create and promote integrated solutions which increase our value and deepen our penetration within key segments of the industry • Work closely with sales to develop and execute programs to help retain existing customers and acquire new customers to satisfy revenue growth plans • Articulate the company’s unique ability to deliver value to customers while differentiating our offerings from other providers • Define and execute the go-to-market strategy, product positioning, and key benefits by customer type • Establish and execute marketing campaigns, including the development of industry and solution specific content to drive awareness and lead generation • Work with marketing communications to develop external positioning and messaging that is consistent and integrated across all communication channels • Develop materials to support each stage of the sales cycle and drive adoption for our offerings including collateral, interactive content, presentations, scripts, sales tools and related programs • Establish the launch plan for new offerings, getting buy-in across all departments involved in preparing the product or service for external release • Support the segment thought-leaders by identifying media and analyst opportunities and drafting press releases, white papers, contributed articles, and speeches • Create and maintain relationships with key influencers in the market including industry specialists, research analysts, key editors in the media and other third-parties • Develop a plan to create and measure awareness of our products and services among buyers, users and partners • Gather, summarize and distribute expert opinions, quantitative market data and qualitative research for multiple market segments • Regularly meet with customers and prospects to understand their business and identify unmet needs • Provide input into advertising and branding initiatives across the wealth management segment
Position Requirements
• 10+ years of product management or marketing experience for a software or services company • Strong knowledge of global benefit administration industry and technology • Ability to understand and communicate about complex technical subjects in a clear and concise manner is essential • 2+ years of management experience • Experience working within a financial institution a plus • Superior record of leadership with a business partnership orientation • Ability to work with and influence senior-level business and product leaders within SunGard • Highly effective communication skills, with an ability to communicate in a one-on-one or a presentation-type environment • Excellent writing skills • Strong consensus building skills
Preference is a candidate located in the Lombard, Illinois or Birmingham, AL area but will consider a candidate in other geographical areas based on experience.
