As QVC's Director, User Experience & Design, you will build the strategy and philosophy around QVC's digital commerce experience, and you will bring it to life for our customers in a way they (and we!) could never have imagined. You will dive deep into QVC's brand essence and translate QVC's personality across our digital platforms.
As Director, User Experience & Design, you will lead our User Experience and Web Design teams with the understanding of how to conceive, structure and develop user experience strategies and specifications for QVC’s core digital platforms. You will provide strategic leadership in the development of QVC’s distinctive digital user experience, and the application and advocacy of user-centered design methodologies to ensure relevancy (i.e. use), usability of websites and interactive applications and consistent alignment with the QVC brand essence. This position is located at QVC's corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia.
Specific duties include: Support and manage the user experience execution. Provide user experience and design direction for Information architecture, design and navigation flows for web sites. Work with the Product Management team in helping to communicate overall product strategy through the business and externally to the world. Develop design and product optimization recommendations based on user research, segmentation insights, information architecture principles and program data and analysis. Maintain and improve the user experience process from strategy through implementation. This includes driving the experience strategy and deliverables, standard deliverable templates and best practices, as well as ensuring integration with other key departments. Provide key insights into consumer needs relative to the online channel and usage (in tandem with the segmentation research) that inform our program, experience and information architectures. Lead and/or coordinate use and usability testing including user interviews to assess needs and analyze task flows. Conduct stakeholder interviews to determine business/site objectives. Heuristic site evaluations and competitive site audits; usability research lead (leads and/or coordinates moderations). Responsible for the overall performance management and career mentoring of the QVC user experience team including developing accountabilities, promotion criteria and training curricula, as well as conducting annual reviews and overall development planning for the team.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Experience: 5+ years of product design and User Experience experience. Strong leadership abilities with extensive experience managing and mentoring teams of high-performing professionals across diverse disciplines such as marketing, sales, web development, business intelligence and other functional business areas. Brand retail experience a MUST. Combination of design and/or Interactive agency experience plus product management experience required. Must be able to show proven experience and understanding of emerging media platforms including ecommerce, mobile commerce, IP-based media and cable/broadcast television and tie that to business goals. Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a multi-function organization Experience in leading and managing a business development/strategic team of varying experience levels. Relationships established within technology and digital media industry. Strategic thinking and analysis capability.
MBA preferred. Experience in media or retail industry preferred
