PCL Industrial Services, Inc. currently has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Heavy Industrial Construction Superintendent at Our Bakersfield, California District.
The Superintendent manages all field construction on a project and is responsible for all field aspects of the project’s budget, schedule, safety and general performance.
Major responsibility is to provide proactive leadership in:
• Mentoring/coaching/supervising/training General Foreman, Foreman and field personnel on same site and/or multiple sites • Involvement in the selection and termination of field site personnel • Timely scheduling, co-ordination and effective cost control, as they pertain to labor, equipment and materials on the project • Mobilizing of the project - equipment choices, site layout and site set-up • Planning, executing, and monitoring construction means / methods, schedules, productivity innovations, site logistics • Ensuring project profitability • Organizing, directing and coordinating all subcontractor activities (includes conducting and chairing weekly coordination meetings), • Assisting project manager with buyouts, monitoring subcontractor monthly progress invoices • Developing and maintaining positive client relations (owner, clients, consultants, public) • Understanding contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes • Lending expertise and support to a number of projects • Liaising with building authorities and regulatory agencies • Ensuring compliance with the quality control plan, safety & environment programs including substance abuse policy • Field administration; preparing time sheets, verifying invoices, labor quantities, packing slips, purchase orders and updating daily job diaries • Monitoring cost control and job costing, quantity reporting, forecasting, productivity reviewing and implementation of changes • Project close-out; responsible for final inspections, deficiencies, warranty work and site demobilization
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, environmental) or construction management or other related area preferred • At least ten years of industrial construction experience • Minimum of 3 years of supervisor experience • Demonstrated success being a team player and working well with others. • Demonstrated success working in a fast pace environment. • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment which must include Word and Excel. • Effective oral and written communication. • Excellent organizational skills.
