Position Description
The successful candidate will provide overall administrative direction for one large or several smaller projects; will be responsible for overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality, project status and maintaining an excellent relationship with subtrades and clients. This person may oversee the operations of a project coordinator or project engineer. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction such as self performed cast-in-place concrete work, grading, road building, earthwork, bridges, underground utilities and retaining walls.
Position Requirements
Major responsibility is to provide proactive leadership in: • Maintaining relationships with owner, architect, consultants, subcontractors, public • Setting up project reporting procedures • Developing and monitoring the project schedule and budget • Establishing construction plans and engineering methods • Handling all change orders, including negotiating, processing and assessing cost and schedule impacts, preparation of claims • Supervising, mentoring, coaching and training project personnel • Ensuring project profitability Review of productivity planning and monitoring • Providing performance status reports regarding cost forecasts, schedule and safety • Understanding and enforcing contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes • Negotiating issues of subcontracts and major purchase orders • Preparing/verifying progress billings to owner and from subcontractors, and monitoring progress • Involved in all facets of project close-out • Liaising with authorities and regulatory agencies • Developing and ensuring compliance with quality control plan
Succesful candidates will be graduate engineers from a University or a technical Institution (structural and civil options preferred) with 5 + years of project management experience required, roadway and transportation construction experience preferred.
Non-graduates with 10+ years of project management experience in roadway and transportation construction will also be considered.
