The Xcel Energy Utility Project Team is responsible for fulfilling the Systems Management
requirements as delineated in the multi-year Work Authorization Agreement. The initial
agreement involves servicing and maintaining fiber optic end equipment, CSU/DSU, Wireless Land Area Network, voice, data, paging, microwave systems and Land Mobile Radio Systems (LMR) in Excel Energy customer regions. However; there is immense potential to extend our services in other States.
Motorola Solutions is responsible for the management and performance of all technical and
administrative services for the life cycle support and above contract services for Xcel Energy under the Agreement. These services include continuous interface with Xcel Energy Utility Services executive contacts, break/fix repair of all system components,
component and sub-system upgrades inventory/asset management, continuous
improvement process development, active cost cutting initiatives and growth and opportunity
development.

The position requires an assortment of computer skills not limited to Pro comm Plus, Hyper-terminal, 802.11 experience and other wireless based technology. Network Plus certificate. Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word.

The position requires organization skills as well as the ability to convey information in written reports and email correspondence.

The candidate shall also display the ability to maintain and utilize a wide spectrum of telecommunication test equipment and will be responsible for the care and inventory of such equipment. The candidate will be required to be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
The candidate shall be required to have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
The candidate shall be able to display the ability to work without direct supervision and to be able to work and communicate with team members, fellow Motorola personnel, supplier representatives, manufacture representatives, the network control center, client representatives and any contract personnel including personnel employed by utility companies.

The candidate will be required to travel to remote telecommunication sites which may include transportation methods using four wheel drive vehicles. Occasional work may require overnight stays away from home as business travel. The candidate will be required to work in electric and natural gas generating and/or distribution facilities.

The position requires 24 hour “on call” participation for trouble restoration about every seven (7) weeks for a period of seven (7) continuous days. Holiday “on call” periods are rotated between technicians.

The candidate must reside in the greater Minneapolis area in order to be able to support the customer.

The successful candidate will be able to display proficiency in problem troubleshooting and resolution for a variety of telecommunication networks, systems and terminals.
The systems involve digital platforms for Land Mobile Radio Systems and RF systems. The knowledge and clear understanding of today’s complex digital Land Mobile Radio is required.
The candidate shall be required to install, troubleshoot and repair Land Mobile Radio equipment.
Must have a very strong knowledge of wired and wireless network communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless local area networks (WLAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance, systems to include cabling, routers, switches, and bridges.
Experience with digital microwave, two-way radio, CSU/DSU, Fiber Optic, WAN/LAN/WLAN.
802.11 experience and other wireless based technology.
Network security experience
CWNA, CWSP or CWNE certifications a plus
The candidate must reside in the greater Minneapolis area in order to be able to support the customer.
