TECHNICIAN A ELECTRONIC, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to perform electronic work on systems that support the Alcator C-Mod fusion facility and its associated research experiments.  Will assist in laboratory, research, or analytical work under the direction or supervision of scientific personnel.  Responsibilities include performing all tasks in a safe and responsible manner; building, inspecting, calibrating, installing, and troubleshooting electronic printed circuit boards, electronic units, and equipment following specifications; fabricating parts, cables, and test fixtures; using electronic, hand, power, and pneumatic tools; working with formal engineering prints, technical drawings, electronic schematics, datasheets, verbal instructions, and informal sketches; and performing other duties at higher or lower classification levels to fill in for other technicians or to fill immediate needs.  Will be trained to operate consoles that control systems that support the Alcator C-Mod fusion facility for experimental runs.



REQUIRED:  graduation from a two-year technical day school or its equivalent; a minimum of five years of applicable experience; excellent soldering skills; experience using electronic test equipment; and solid typing and computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer, Excel, and Word.  Must be able to work closely with engineers and scientists.  Seek highly skilled technician who can work unsupervised for periods of time.  Job #10938
