Position Description

Organize, develop and implement comprehensive sales training programs for the international sales force in Latin America (direct and distributor based), in conjunction with Clinical Education and Training programs for regional surgeons.  Assist the medical education department in the formulation and execution of surgeon education programs for the Latin American region, focusing on Spine, Navigation and Neuromodulation.

Position Responsibilities

•  Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Medical Education Departments of the multiple SBU’s and attend regular meetings to represent the needs of the International Division.
•  Promote and sustain strong relationships with key regional surgeons (KOL’s). Ensuring proper and frequent contract, supplying trend information to the marketing and sales teams   
Promote and sustain strong relationships with the regional sales force (direct and distributor based).    
•  Promote and coordinate events such as: VSP, VIP, Meri Lab in the US, while also developing regional recurring training programs in the region for the respective SBU.    
•  Communicate sales training and medical education needs to senior management and recommend tactics and strategies needed to support sales training and surgeon education.
•  Maintain strong relationships with the internal product managers, engineers, and related staff in all product areas.
•  Maintain the necessary product knowledge and demonstration skills in all major products in order to assist in field sales calls and sales training presentations.
•  Complete the development and deliver of a two-tiered clinical sales training program to include foundation, product, and advanced levels and implement at least three on-site training sessions per year.
•  Seek feedback regarding the effectiveness of training, and the need to focus on specific products or areas.
•  Review the professional literature and summarize articles of specific product or technique interest for distribution to the international sales force.
•  Work closely with regional training coordinator to ensure leading and laggin metrics are in place regarding effectiveness and need for training.
•  Prepare annual budget requirements for the sales training and surgeon education areas.
•  Actively manage and develop training and education managers.

Basic Qualifications

Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, Ph.D., M.D.) with minimum 5 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience. Masters plus 8 years of experience or Bachelors level degree in health sciences considered if 10 or more years of clinical or industry experience in relevant therapeutic area is present. Required experience in cardiovascular medicine/medical devices
•  Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
•  Highly motivated and capable of comprehending large amounts of scientific content which is then communicated in a clear, concise fashion
•  5+ year direct experience in servicing complex customer needs
•  Demonstrated ability to work with often demanding or difficult clients
•  Significant experience and success in self-managing priorities and multitasking projects
•  Strong teamwork/Interpersonal skills
•  Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification and evaluation
•   Excellent interpersonal skills.   
•   Ability to work closely with distributor sales force and internal Medtronic personnel.   
•  Intellectual curiosity and intelligence about the field of science/medicine for which they are responsible
•  Ability to travel internationally 35-50% of the time.
•  Fluency in English, Spanish – basic Portuguese knowledge

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Medical degree – Medical Doctor in related field
• Three to five years of experience in related clinical field
