GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Provides engineering support to operating facilities associated with high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) equipment and facilities, including support for regulatory issues, problem resolution, and maintenance activities.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Ensures that clear lines of communication are available between Engineering, Operations’ HV personnel, and operating facilities as needed
•Supports key initiatives to improve the performance of the company’s operating fleet of assets
•Develops linkages with broader EDPR technical resources and industry working groups to share information and knowledge globally
•Oversees technical relationships with HV equipment and service providers
•Coordinates with the Electrical Engineering team to review electrical system Design Guides and standard equipment specification and incorporate lessons learned into future designs and Balance of Plant (BOP) contracts
•Coordinates between regional Engineering Managers and the Operations team, serving as the focal point for the review of project-specific electrical system designs to ensure that operational considerations, including operability and maintainability, are incorporated
•Supports and coordinates commissioning, start-up, and initial operating activities as needed
•Provides feedback on engineering documents to improve constructability, reliability, or operability
•Interfaces with equity partners to discuss technical issues as required
•Interfaces with site personnel, Operations HV personnel, and the Remote Operations Control Center to resolve issues related to the daily operation of operating wind farms and solar farms
•Supports the identification and selection of engineering service companies to provide technical support not available within the company
•Provide engineering support to capital projects as needed
•Additional duties as required



REQUIRED EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 8 – 15 years of experience in power generation operations; utility-scale transformer experience preferred

REQUIRED LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
•Expert knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substation electrical equipment and transmission design and operations; basic knowledge of, and ability to apply, pertinent industry standards and codes, including those of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute); familiarity with programming and operation of microprocessor relays

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
•Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and database development and management
•Ability to multi-task and perform duties in a collaborative working environment
•Ability to work un-supervised
•High attention to detail
•Ability to quickly assess emergency situations and requirements and to develop and implement appropriate action plans
•Ability to work around energized equipment under proper lock-out, tag-out, and other safety procedures
•Ability to occasionally perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to inspect equipment or collect information
•Ability to perform and review basic electrical discipline mathematical calculations and electrical designs, interfacing closely with Engineering and Construction teams and consultants in order to ensure proper design and operation
•Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams
•Willingness and ability to travel as needed (~25 – 50% travel anticipated)
•Ability and willingness to provide support outside of regular business hours as needed
