OUR COMPANY

Foremost Independent Agent (IA) Operations is a business division within the larger Farmers Insurance organization. It focuses on the independent agent channel of distribution, which for Foremost, is nearly a $3 billion dollar business. The Foremost IA Operations division sells insurance through tens of thousands of agent locations throughout the United States, the largest Independent Agent insurance network in America. Foremost has the broadest product portfolio of any North American insurer, offering 23 distinct, personal lines products and small business commercial lines products distributed through our independent agency network.

Position Requirements

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

As a district manager, your primary focus will be on sales management. You will have several exciting areas of responsibility that make this consultative sales job well-rounded and satisfying:

You will manage all agency accounts within your defined field territory from your home office and you will be responsible for realizing premium and profit objectives for those accounts, putting your sales skills to great use.

You will acquaint agents and their employees with products, systems, service and underwriting; develop existing agency relationships and prospect new agencies. This is perfect for self-starters who can motivate others.

You will be the primary contact point for our highly talented agency support staff, and you'll help build and maximize the agency/company relationship for all products in the portfolio, requiring an excellent display of leadership skills.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Our Comprehensive EIGHT-WEEK Sales/Systems/Skills Training will provide your Foundation to succeed at Foremost. The Foundations training will provide the framework you need to hit the ground running and execute a strategic plan for your district.  

During training you will:

Learn a comprehensive dynamic sales model to maximize results

Have opportunities for face-to-face sales visits in agents’ offices

Participate in role plays and receive constructive feedback

Be given outside work that will reinforce your training

Receive feedback and assessments on your progress

** You must be willing to come to Grand Rapids, Michigan for 8 weeks of training on our products. ** The training begins on 2/1/2010.

** The training will include outside classroom work and study.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience with strong sales skills and entrepreneurial drive is a must

Outstanding communication skills and presence

Strong ability and inclination for new business “hunting,” prospecting, territory development and account management

Ability to be agile in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Three to five years of sales, marketing or insurance experience is required

A four-year college degree is required

Physical Actions

Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting ofoccasional walking, standing, lifting and/or carrying 20 lbs., seeing,hearing, reaching and driving.

Physical Environment

You will be provided with a company vehicle - must have a clean driving record.

Once the 8 weeks of training in Grand Rapids, Michigan is over you will work out of your home office.

Education Requirements

Four-year college degree and insurance license during first year inposition if not previously acquired.

Experience Requirements

Three years insurance sales or agency experience or equivalent.
