Position Description
Manages the full life cycle development and deployment of focusedbusiness intelligence solutions for Farmers Business Insurance.Responsible for the management and oversight of requirementsacquisition, data analysis, quality, security, data mart configurationand development of reporting/analysis interfaces. Provide advice andguidance on appropriate application of reporting and analysisarchitecture. Responsible for the development, distribution, andmaintenance of the reporting environment. Oversees locating datasources; designing and distributing reports; developing web portals,applications and other user interface components. Assists DecisionSupport team members with understanding data and meeting userrequirements. Participates in project work groups with Subject MatterExperts and stakeholders to understand data specific needs. Developsand documents requirements and user security related functionality andconstraints.
Position Requirements
Understands customers’ business needs and manages their expectations.Develops reports for specific key performance indicators.Develops a prototype to testing the deliverable in the appropriateenvironments. Implements the solution and provides documentation.Manages work request queue that includes, but is not limited to,forecasting completion dates and delivering against those forecasts forprojects/requests.Manages the existing report inventory.Identifies opportunities for end-user self service reporting.Maintains process documentation.Adheres to established release management procedures.Handles analysis, programming, implementation, maintenance, modificationand re-engineering.Provides user support, maintenance, and other BI related informationtechnology activities.Works with end-users to help drill down to define requirements.Works with business process owners to develop reports.Works closely with customers, other team members, and other IT groups.Provides subject matter expertise, training, and/or development foroperational/production reports. Trains process owners to build reports.Serves as a technical expert on in-house business intelligence/reportingtool solutions. Responsible for report design, development, testing,debugging and documentation.Prepares detailed specifications for programs.Performs business intelligence research and analysis on internal andexternal data.Specifies business systems (inputs, outputs, data, human and automatedinterfaces) to meet information processing objectives for the softwareplatform.Prepares, distributes and trains for report packages. Supports specificmetrics and units as assigned.Provides input and ad hoc reporting on programming/policy informationfor commercial service centers and commercial home office staff.Assists finance team with projects and reports as needed.Performs other functions as assigned.

Physical Actions
Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting ofoccasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs.maximum. Functional ability of seeing, hearing, and speaking isrequired.
Physical Environment
Required job duties are normally performed in a climate controlledoffice environment, with occasional travel by car or airplane.
Education Requirements
Four-year college degree in business, technical or related field.A Masters degree is preferred or working toward higher education.
Experience Requirements
At least five years consulting or IT experience with Farmers orequivalent external experience.
Special Skills Requirements
Understanding of core Business Intelligence/data warehousing technology(SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and Teradata, Web, Client/Server, and OLAP)Business intelligence development experience and programming experience(SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++)Excellent communication skills with the ability to describe challengesand solutions.Ability to mentor and coach team membersAbility to perform technical quality assurance reviews.
