Introduction

Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated graduate to join our CPU and Interconnect Design team. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the team to contribute to the specification, design and verification of the next generation of ARM microprocessors and system interconnects.

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of the ARM Austin Design Center. We employ leading-edge modeling, design and verification technologies to design low-power high-performance products.



Experience
Successful candidates will contribute in one or more of the following areas.  Prior exposure through academic project work, internships, co-ops, or full-time employment in the semiconductor or microarchitecture arena is preferred.

General
• Microarchitecture modeling and microarchitecture concepts such as processor pipelines, coherent memory hierarchy, and system interconnect
• Excellent software engineering skills including understanding of data structures and algorithms in C/C++ and Java, and graphical user interfaces
• Assembly language or embedded programming for ARM or other architectures
• Basic understanding of logic design and state machines



Design
• RTL logic design with emphasis on low-power and high-speed implementations
• Understanding of CPU microarchitecture high performance techniques and trade-offs
• Verilog HDL language and associated software simulators and waveform debugging tools
• Logic synthesis, timing constraints, static timing analysis, power analysis

Modeling
• Broad understanding of processor performance sensitivities to various workloads
• Developing virtual platform models (VPMs) using transaction-level models (TLMs) in a SystemC-based framework
Specification and creation of test harnesses and methodologies using interpreted languages like Python and Perl
Verification
• Formal property verification
• FPGA based design prototyping
• Specification and creation of constrained-random testbenches
• Functional coverage driven validation methods

Education & Qualifications
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering, with a GPA of 3.6 or higher
• The ideal candidate is a highly analytical person, with a background in software and tools, and with exposure to software analysis or validation.
• Ability to cooperate and communicate well within an engineering team
• Motivated to continuously develop skills and accept a variety of responsibilities as part of contributing to the design center’s success
• Demonstrate positive attitude and respect for all members of the team
• Willing to take risks to create revolutionary solutions for difficult problems
