Technical Publications

The Technical Publications team is part of the ARM Services Division. We are responsible for producing and maintaining customer-facing technical documentation for all ARM products. Technical Publications has a global presence in all major design centers. We are a mature team with established, well-defined processes and standards.

Role

We are seeking a proactive, detailed-oriented person to write highly technical content for our customers. The successful candidate will have a strong and relevant technical background and, and be able to show strong writing skills.

The start date for this role will be 1st July 2013.
  
Key responsibilities

  • Track and report on the progress of their workload.
  • Write technical content, including topic-based content, for use by designers, developers and engineers in collaboration with product development teams.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to obtain source information from: Investigations, Internal project documentation, Interviews with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Write structured content that maximizes comprehension and ease of use.
  • Incorporate review comments.
  • Ensure that their output content complies with corporate standards.
  • Ensure that they comply with current processes and policies

    Education and qualifications

    A good degree in one or more of the following:

  • Computer science.
  • Other relevant degree subject.
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant technical area


  • Essential skills

  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of embedded electronics.
  • Knowledge of microprocessors at an architectural level.
  • Understanding of the interaction between software and hardware.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a willingness to communicate at all levels.
  • Demonstrable organizational and interpersonal skills to manage the flow of information from contributors and reviewers.  


  • Desirable Skills/Knowledge of

    A good knowledge of at least one of:
  • ARM architecture.
  • ARM AMBA protocols.
  • ARM assembler.
  • XML and XSLT.
  • C, C++, or related OO languag The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) data model.
  • Perl, Python, or a similar scripting language.
  • The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) data model.

    A working knowledge of:

  • A component content management system.
  • A technical writing application.
  • A vector graphics package.
  • Bitmap manipulation software.
  • Animation software.
  • Eclipse.
  • An understanding of the documentation production cycle or engineering project lifecycle.
