Job Description: Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join ARM's systems R&D team. The systems team is part of the corporate R&D group and currently works on research projects related to high-efficiency microprocessors & systems architectures, including interconnect and memory systems.

Role
As a research engineer at ARM you will be encouraged to think outside of the box and to seek a broader understanding of the context of each research topic. You will be creating practical, efficient technology that can accelerate the success of the ARM partnership in the 5-10 year time horizon. You will also be expected to contribute to engineering infrastructure projects which aim to increase our future research capabilities.

We provide an open, collaborative research environment and encourage interactions with internal product development teams, ARM partners and the wider academic research community.



Education & Qualifications

The applicant will have a Master’s degree or PhD in either Electronic Engineering or Computer Science/Computer Engineering. The applicant should be able to demonstrate research interests or experience in Power modeling or system simulation environments. In addition the candidate should have experience in at least one of these additional areas

• SoC System architecture
• Interconnect
• Memory subsystems
• Operating systems
• Heterogeneous Computing
• Micro-processor architecture and microarchitecture
• Multi-processing
• Workload development and analysis
• Microarchitecture/system performance analysis and simulation
• Compiler technology
• Networking

Essential Technical Skills
The applicant should be able to demonstrate skills in a number of the areas below:

• Experience of developing transaction-level models in SystemC or similar discrete event simulation frameworks
• Knowledge of implementation costs and power implications.
• Strong programming skills using C++, object oriented software design and experience of large software projects
• Strong SoC architecture background
• Experience of full-system performance/power modeling
• Hardware design experience using Verilog or VHDL
• Experience of assembly language and low-level software development tools
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python
