About ARM Artisan Physical IP:

ARM Artisan® Physical IP technology lies at the heart of advanced digital products, from wireless, networking and consumer entertainment solutions to imaging, automotive, security and storage devices. ARM Artisan® Physical IP has 5 primary product offerings: standard cells, memories, I/O’s, Processor Optimisation Package (POP) and DDR PHY’s. We create IP that is licensed to all the leading foundries (TSMC, IBM, UMC, Samsung, SMIC etc) and distributed to end-users via the Free Library Program. In addition to this, we also create IP that is licensed directly to end-users. ARM Artisan® Physical IP is available at various bulk-CMOS and Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) processes from 250nm to 14nm.

Reporting to the VP Commercial Operations for PIPD, ARM is seeking an experienced manager to join the division’s commercial team and manage end user licensing and reporting of ARM’s Artisan Physical IP libraries.

Key Objectives and Accountabilities:

DesignStart is the ARM proprietary portal for customer browsing, licensing, and delivery of many ARM Artisan™ Physical IP Products. Reporting to the Design Start Licensing and Compliance Manager is a team of four specialists, two based in China, one in the US and another in the UK to ensure same time zone and local language support for ARM’s key end user regions. Working with the team, the manger will be responsible for the following broad areas:
 Licensing and distribution of the ARM Artisan Physical IP foundry-sponsored libraries to end users.
 Management of the end user compliance program, that is ensuring compliance of reporting
 Customer management and analysis to assure we maximize active accounts and drive for quality foundry-sponsored customer engagement
 Driving efficiency improvement programs to systems and processes to enhance the customer experience for both licensing and reporting
 Divisional responsibility for Design Start enhancements and future roadmaps

A key strategic objective of the Design Start Licensing and Compliance Manager is to optimize and enhance the current systems and processes to increase the quality and quantity of on-time end user reports received in a timely fashion. Due the nature of the business, many of the systems used to facilitate usage reporting are shared with other stakeholders. The Design Start Licensing and Compliance Manager will therefore have to work with other system stakeholders and corporate IT personnel to ensure enhancements are prioritized and developed in a timely manner.
Additionally, the Design Start Licensing and Compliance Manager will have the ownership of the Design Start (IP Web Portal) on behalf of the division. In this capacity, the manager will work with the PIPD Marketing, Licensing, and Operations teams to identify creative ways in which user experience can be enhanced and improved and to bring these ideas into practice.

Another key strategic objective of the role will be to streamline the licensing process to reduce the time it takes to get Physical IP in the hands of users. This will involve liaising with other stakeholders across the company (Legal, Finance, Marketing and Sales) to identify and implement efficiency improvement opportunities.

The Design Start Licensing and Compliance Manager will also be responsible for creating effective weekly management reports which track end user licensing and compliance statistics to communicate and update senior management of trends and issues.
