The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is an integral part of the Taiwan Sales force, reporting to the Field Applications Engineer Manager.  

The FAE works closely with one or more Regional Sales Managers by providing technical pre-sales support to develop and win new licensing at his/her assigned product line.  Acting as a technical account manager, the FAE is also responsible for licensees design-in and success as directed by FAE Manager.

It is important that the FAE develops sound professional relationships with the key engineers, architects, and decision-makers at his/her customers both internally and externally.  It is also important that the FAE can create, report, and execute on key account strategies aimed at growing the business within these customers.

The FAE will also participate in defining new products or services. The FAE is expected to maintain a high standard of technical knowledge in relation to our products, services, and competitors.


Key Responsibilities


  • Scope prospected and qualified IP opportunities develop strategies and processes to increase IP licensing and design wins opportunities.
  • Remove technical obstacles and provide a path to increase IP licensing and design wins opportunities.
  • Present and demonstrate technical details of ARM PIPD product to customers.

    Processor Optimization Pack (POP)

  • Provide technical support and consulting in pre-sales opportunities as well as ownership of customer support process in design-in.
  • Provide back-end implementation support in customer design stages.
  • Create and maintain good relationship and rapport with key customer technical staff
  • Feedback customer requirements and competition update to division and other ARM members



Technical Skills


  • At least 3 years relevant experience in the industry with good relevant degree
  • Excellent understanding of back-end implementation flows for standard cell based design including techniques for high performance and low power. This should include logical synthesis, place and route, design for test, STA, SPICE simulation and LVS/DRC/DFM.
  • Experience of EDA tools for physical implementation and verification including Cadence, Synopsys and Mentor tools.
  • Understanding of deep sub-micron process technologies and transistor level design including standard cell and memory design
  • Some knowledge of front end design including Verilog, functional verification and ARM system architecture

Commercial Skills
  • A good understanding of ARM technology, culture and the business model.
  • Excellent communication skills: listening, understanding and persuading
  • Dynamic, self-starting individual with the ability to excite and instill confidence in customers about latest and previous technology and standards.
  • Good presentation skills, able to clearly express technical concepts.
  • Previous experience to work with sales or marketing role is a plus.
  • FAE or customer interaction experience is a plus.

    ARM accredited engineer (AAE) is a plus.
