A Project Manager will for an identified piece of engineering work, ensure that a customer’s requirements are accurately transferred into a meaningful engineering project. Determine appropriate timescales; provide project plans and appropriate input to specifications and use creatively the assigned engineering resource to ensure that all contractual engineering commitments are delivered successfully.
A Project Manager will establish an effective working environment, which enables product to be produced in a professional manner and ensure that the project is completed to time, cost, and quality targets. Regularly monitor, ascertain and make visible relevant inter-project and product dependencies, assisting in the resolution of differences where necessary, to achieve greater commercial success. Work closely with relevant Product managers to ensure tight coupling of the commercial requirements of the project.
A Project Manager will demonstrate a competent knowledge of company processes in order to work constructively within given standards and methodologies. A Project Manager will contribute reasoned arguments to ensure that refinements/improvements are implemented within the project process, which will contribute to the company’s goals.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Perform effective project management of a number of projects.
Project Planning and Reporting:
Management of the projects’ plan and associated data to:


  • ensure all project reports are accurate and useful for weekly review
  • ensure projects’ resource requirements are correctly reported for weekly review
  • ensure projects’ financial information is correctly reported for weekly review
  • ensure timesheets data for the projects is accurate and up to date
  • ensure consistency between plans and reports

Weekly Reviews:

  • Take part in weekly project review meetings as required to discuss projects in detail and report progress and risks.

Project Communication
Ensure proper and regular communication of project status and requirements with other parties, in particular:

  • Technical Publications;
  • Product Management;
  • Product Licensing;
  • Key commercial contacts;
  • Design Automation;
  • Engineering Management;
  • Divisional Management.

Best Practice

  • Promote best technical and commercial practice both in the project’s team and in any interaction with customers and stakeholders.
    Auspex
    Ensure all projects follow the flow defined by Auspex and all assessment entries are up to date.



    REQUIREMENTS:
    To become a Project Manager you will have demonstrated that you can produce high standards of engineering work through technical ability and balanced judgement. You will have clearly shown that you can contribute successfully to a number of high profile engineering projects and can demonstrate leadership qualities and good people skills. You will have gained the respect of the wider engineering community and be known within the company for your potential and confidence in taking quality decisions against tight deadlines with the minimum of support. As a Project Manager you will typically have gained, at least 2 years of experience in technically excellent companies although for more commercially sensitive or technically complex projects, you will typically have at least 5 years of experience.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:
    TECHNICAL


    • Engineering Degree or equivalent
    • Experience in use of UNIX & PC work stations.
    • General understanding of Silicon/Systems/Software design
    • Understanding of software and VLSI design threads and potential issues
    • Enthusiasm for product development
    • Substantial evidence of engineering successes
    • Experience of Project Management Tools e.g. Microsoft project.
