Placements at ARM

At ARM we offer industrial placements across our organization enabling you to build the key skills needed for future employment by learning about the world of business. You will have the opportunity to work on interesting projects that will challenge you and help develop your abilities.

Processor Division

The Processor Division develop high performance CPU cores that lie at the heart of many of today’s digital devices. Within this division, the Compute Sub-System Team drive the standards and methodology behind producing best in class high performance Compute Subsystem platforms and System on Chip (SoC) designs. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the full cycle of SoC development from design, verification to implementation.

ARM is seeking an engineering student to spend their industrial placement year at the Cambridge HQ, working in the heart of the organization. The successful candidate will be assigned to an active project where they will gain invaluable experience working alongside the expert marketing and business development team and have the opportunity to make a significant contribution.

Education and Qualifications

Studying a relevant degree (electronics or computing or equivalent).

Essential Skills and Experience

• A good understanding of digital electronics
• Strong communication skills: listening, understanding and persuading
• Excellent attention to detail
• Understanding of computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts
• Outstanding inter-personal and teamwork skills
• The ability to effectively work alone as well as in a team
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of the ARM architecture
• Marketing & business skills – understanding of business lifecycles, working with partners and ecosystem, delivering to schedules
• Strong technical writing skills – communicating challenging ideas with concise and consumable messaging
• Familiarity with high-level simulation languages, such as VHDL or Verilog
• Programming languages, such as 'C', C++
