Introduction

The ARM France CPU group, based in Sophia-Antipolis on the French Riviera near Nice, designs and develops new ARM architectures and processor cores as well as new variants of existing cores. The group is characterized by highly intelligent and motivated engineers working at the forefront of technology within a company that is the world leader in embedded 32-bit microprocessors.

Job Purpose

ARM’s Sophia Antipolis design centre is located in one of the most beautiful parts of France, at the heart of Europe’s largest and most dynamic technology park. Surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, this exceptional design centre has delivered leading products from ARM’s Cortex processor family. These CPUs power some of the world’s bestselling smartphones, tablets and gaming systems, using technology that has taken user experience and performance to another level.
Now working on the next generation of processors that will appear in the most desirable products over the next 3 years, the Sophia Antipolis design team is a good combination of very experienced engineers and some of the most talented graduates, coming from the very best engineering schools.  Collectively, the team is highly innovative, collaborative, delivery orientated and committed.

Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about new technologies, high-end mobile computing, and innovation. You will be working on a highly challenging project, to push the performance, power and area boundaries of the next high-end ARM processor. This requires deep interest in advanced processor features, excellent knowledge of computer systems, and a high degree of creativity.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

The responsibilities of CPU design engineers at ARM include working closely with customers to develop on CPU. Specific roles within projects will include architectural design, writing specifications, modeling and simulation in Verilog, synthesis and production test generation. The Design Engineer is also heavily involved in IP generation and IP re-use and makes extensive use of the state-of-the-art digital design and implementation methodologies.



Education & Qualifications

Preferably graduate from a French University or Engineering School, in electronic engineering or computer science ideally, although other science graduates would be considered if they have relevant experience.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 0-3 year microprocessor, ASIC systems or HDL and Synthesis design experience
    Enthusiasm and drive.
    Prepared to be assigned to tasks across the full range of your skills and experience, as and when opportunities arise.
    Ability to express ideas and communicate effectively
    Ability to schedule own workload and plan tasks
    Good inter-personal skills
    Willingness to be flexible and accept new challenges
    Must be fluent in French and English


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of microprocessor and peripheral design techniques.
    Assembly language programming, ideally in ARM assembler.
    Programming language 'C'
    Use of UNIX and shell programming
