Minimum Requirements - EDUCATION:

Licensure / Certification Required: Current Certified Nurse's Aide, graduate of HMFWH STEP program, Medical Assistant. Current Texas Paramedic license or nursing student who has completed fundamentals.

Successful completion of CPR within 30 days of hire;

Completion of telemetry monitor training within 30 days of hire (must successfully complete training as evidenced by recognition of all lethal rhythms)

Completion of the PBDS competency assessment.

Minimum Requirements - EXPERIENCE:

1 year CNA or MA hospital experince required

Minimum Requirements - SKILLS:

Basic computer skills.

Working knowledge of medical terminology;

Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Duties
Provide basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of an RN or LVN and provide a safe, supportive environment.

Demonstrate the clinical knowledge required to perform general care activities:

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL’s) to include: oral, skin, hair, and peri-care, eating, bathing, dressing, and toileting;

Assist patients with dietary needs to include: feeding, menu completion, and assistance with trays.

Takes action to reduce risks for patients;

Incorporate and adapt care to accommodate cultural/religious needs and beliefs of patient into care with direction from the RN;

In collaboration/consultation with the RN, adapt care to reflect age-specific and developmental considerations;

Assist the RN in patient admissions, transfers and discharges;

Collect patient data such as vital signs, weights, I&O and pain score; identify and report significant findings to nurse;

Perform technical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, specimen collections, and EKG’s as appropriate;

Assist in transfer of patients from bed to chair, etc. in a safe manner, and safely transports patients within hospital;

Document patient care activities and results accurately and appropriately;

Demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills with patients, families, co- workers, physicians, all disciplines, and other customers;

Take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
