Position Description

Summary:   The Vice President of Academic Affairs has oversight responsibility for planning and managing critical aspects of academic affairs in respect to the delivery of quality education that leads to a meaningful student experience. This position assists with policy formulation and promulgation for EDMC OHE as well as develops and facilitates training programs for academic personnel. The VP for Academic Affairs is responsible for providing the necessary means for faculty to improve their teaching and sustain professional growth. This position provides direction that help schools comply with accreditation requirements, state and federal regulations.

Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment, which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Key Job Elements:

Assist the schools in curriculum development initiatives; provides guidance in the institutional research process and confirms that appropriate assessment practiced are in place.


Evaluate faculty hiring procedures that ensure compliance with credential and work experience requirements; develop and present professional development programs for faculty.


Provide guidance and monitor institutional and programmatic accreditation activity in the schools with assistance from the Academic Affairs Specialists and Registrar Support Staff.


Develop guidelines that define appropriate learning resources and assure those are provided by the school.


Support the OHE in the hiring and training of new Deans of Academic Affairs; develop and facilitate OnBoarding and training programs for new hires; manage the executive development program as it applies to Deans of Academic Affairs.


With the Vice President of Academic Operations assure polices, procedures and best practices are implemented and carried out in an efficient manner.

Position Requirements

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Knowledge:
a) Master’s degree in Education with Doctoral degree strongly preferred.
b) A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in Education, with considerable academic management experience, preferably in a proprietary school setting.
c) Fiscal and personnel management experience.


Skills:
a) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
b) Strong interpersonal skills with supervisor and staff populations.
c) Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
d) Strong computer literacy skills with the Microsoft Office Suite.


Abilities:

a) Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
b) Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
c) Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
d) Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
